I believe that the polarisation tearing apart our individual and collective ability to solve real problems is not caused by bad values — it is caused by an intolerance of uncertainty and imperfection that we have never been taught to manage. Almost every meaningful decision involves a trade-off, a harm somewhere, an imperfect outcome. Until individuals and the organisations they lead can sit inside that discomfort without flinching or deflecting, we will keep reacting instead of responding, choosing the wrong solutions, and / or simply failing to take impactful action.
